Are you new to Mystery Shopping or maybe just looking for some guidance or fresh ideas? I was looking around the Internet and came upon this lady from Texas, Cathy Stucker. I searched a couple of her sites and found one I thought to be quite interesting. She has wrote a book, The Mystery Shoppers Manual. I personally have not bought it but her site says that it is recognized by the MSPA which I found to be impressive. This is what the MSPA had to say about her book:
The Mystery Shopping Providers Association (MSPA) recognizes that mystery shoppers and prospective mystery shoppers need a resource that will give them the ‘real story’ about mystery shopping. . .the opportunities, the realities, and how to perform at their peak. Cathy Stucker’s book, The Mystery Shopper’s Manual, provides solid information that offers the mystery shopper reliable information on how to obtain assignments, how to perform them well, and how to ensure that mystery shops are conducted in accord with the wishes of the mystery shopping company and its clients. The Mystery Shopper’s Manual provides a realistic approach to mystery shopping that addresses step-by-step processes for becoming a successful shopper.
The cost is $24.95 plus shipping and included in this fee is a down loadable link to mystery shopping companies and websites that she talks about in her book. If you are interested in ordering her book, click here to go straight to the order page. If you just want to read more about it and see what others had to say, click here.
I am curious, has anyone bought the book that you can give us some feedback on it? Is it worth the money?

There are many ways that mystery shoppers can network themselves and find assignments in their area. Below is a list of just a few ways this can be done –
Be sure to log in frequently with companies you are registered with. Keep in mind shops are put out at different times throughout the month, you never know when you will get lucky and land that perfect shop.
There are tons of communities online where you can find assignments. Try visiting the below site. The owner has a list of companies where you can apply.

When you get the assignment, make sure you do a good job. If you have issues or questions make sure you contact your scheduler ASAP. If you do a good job, it will be noticed and you raise your chances of getting more assignments in the future.
Do you have something special you have done or do to get that great shop? Is there a favorite online community where you find the best shops? Please share your ideas!

Beginning today, shoppers who completed shops for AboutFace™ since the beginning of 2008 can find out when they are due to be paid online and on-demand!
We are pleased to introduce our new shopper service, "When Will I Get Paid?" which was launched on our web site today. To view your shopper pay records online, all you need is your email address and zip code which are on file with AboutFace™.
In addition to the shop and location name, base pay and bonus information and the dates the shops were completed and published, an estimated pay date will be displayed as well. If your pay date is past due, it shows up in red and you can email the payables department about it right from the site.
Give it a spin today!

In this business it can get lonely. Your main goal is to stay anonymous so where do you go to talk to people about what you do and problems that you have? Is there such a place - YES there is. There are many places that you, as a secret shopper, can go to talk to other shoppers. Many websites, like Volition have forums where you can share problems and get ideas as well as insight on the companies that are out there. These places are especially helpful to new shoppers. They can alert you to companies out there that are scams, which ones are great to work for, who pays quick - just about anything that you want and need to know. If you are a seasoned shopper, you can share what you know and help out your fellow mystery shoppers.
What are some of the perks of online forums? You can reach out to thousands of shoppers and share tips, tricks and your experiences as well as gaining the knowledge of other shoppers' experiences. It also helps to have a network of 'help' when you run into a problem and need a quick answer. The larger forums have people posting all the time which means you can get answers quick. It is a win win for everyone.
So, where do you find a place like this? My suggestion is to go to Google and simply do a search for Mystery Shopping Forums. This will bring up several that you can join and interact with.
Once you have joined a few I would love yo hear back from you as to which ones you think are the best. Give me and everyone else your opinion - I am always open for that !!
